“I want to thank Jay for reinforcing my beliefs in mindfulness practice. I have done mindful breathing for several years. I have had a wonderful experience sharing it with Jay.”

What they have to say...

  • “Laughter is the best medicine”
“I received coaching from Jay Olegario. He is very personable, making it easy to open up and share what was on my mind. I came to Jay with a long to-do list and not really knowing where to start with it all. He helped me organize my list and get things done one by one, freeing up some much needed time with my family and helping me feel accomplished. On multiple occasions he brainstormed with me and helped me get some tasks on the computer accomplished that I had no idea how to do. He made this a quick and painless process. I liked that he also brought in laughter to our sessions. So many times coaching can be very serious, but Jay allowed me to see the humor in some of the things that I was doing. Laughing through some of my problems made dealing with them so much easier. After all, laughter is the best medicine. I would highly recommend Jay for any coaching needs. He is very knowledgeable and he was a great coach.” - Hiedi F.
  • “He is just an amazing coach”
"Jay was my student in Barstow, CA, and what a wonderful young man he was to teach. We reconnected through Facebook, and I found him to be the most amazing adult. He is a man of integrity who is spiritual, joyful, family-centered, all the components that make a successful human. When he needed someone to practice his coaching skills with, I quickly volunteered. Who wouldn’t want to hang out with Jay and have them encourage them? I am a 74-year-old retiree that still enjoys life and volunteers to change the world. Jay affirmed so many of my choices. He encouraged me and helped me realize that my ideas and efforts were valuable to the world. The experience was not only thought-provoking, but fun. Jay has such an amazing, pleasing personality and perspective on life. He puts the person at ease and makes them feel valuable. When I told him of my dream job, he immediately found me classes to take. As I said earlier, I am getting on in years, but I am never too old to learn. I think Jay coached me into not putting dreams on back burners but continue to grow and thrive. Everyone needs a Jay in their life. He can make you understand that the contributions you make are important. His gentle humor dissolves any of the anxiety that a person would have going into this process. I recommend him to people my age and younger. It is never too late to feel accepted and heard. He is just an amazing coach."

  • “Reinforcing my beliefs in mindfulness practice”
“I want to thank Jay for reinforcing my beliefs in mindfulness practice. I have done mindful breathing for several years. I have had a wonderful experience sharing it with Jay. In turn, Jay has brought a fresh new perspective and opened me up to several different media which offer interesting and various ways to practice my mindfulness breathing technique. Several of which I will be using myself and passing on to others. Jay also has a soothing voice which is very calming. I have enjoyed working with Jay and I highly recommend him as a Nurse Coach.” - Patricia B.
  • “Made me feel empowered”
“I want to thank Jay for being my mindfulness practice partner. He always had a great attitude and made our sessions enjoyable. Jay was able to introduce me to a new mindfulness practice he created and made me feel empowered by his words by the end of the session. I truly believe having the ability to help others feel comfortable, relaxed and in a good mood is a skill that Jay has. I enjoyed my time working with him and I would recommend him as a Nurse Coach and Mindfulness Practice partner to anyone.”  - Melissa L.
  • “It was super fun meeting with him every week”
“I spoke with Jay about starting to learn how to play the piano. Although I’m still researching options on how to learn (app vs book) I have a couple of friends that want to learn with me and we are starting to get together to learn. I love working with Jay. He’s easy to talk to is a great listener and we have similar senses of humor so it was super fun meeting with him every week. I definitely am more excited about starting this process. I was convinced that if I wasn’t practicing 1 hour I shouldn’t even do it. Jay suggested that I just set aside a few minutes a day which is better than not doing anything at all. Anyone who wants to move forward with their goals and have a good time doing it!" - Natalie S.
  • “Jay helped shift my mindset to build a solid foundation”
“My decision to explore holistic nurse coaching stemmed from feeling exhausted from stress and lack of sleep, and growing frustrated with other options that hadn’t yielded much success. I believe I knew what avenues to explore for resolution, but having Jay’s guidance provided a source of external motivation and accountability. Jay created a safe space which made me feel comfortable sharing from a place of vulnerability. Having an open dialogue with an unbiased professional about contributing factors to my situation was critical in achieving positive results. He was able to highlight behaviors that were negatively impacting my daily routine, as well as explore a multitude of strategic solutions as opposed to a “Do this, do that” approach. The most beneficial part of working with a nurse coach was goal-setting, tools to achieve those goals, and encouragement. Jay was able to help shift my mindset to build a solid foundation for healthy and realistic long-term progress. With some dedication to yoga, meditation, and improved (more frequent) eating habits, I am back on the path of well-being, and feel more energized to hit my usual gym routine. There are so many people I hold near and dear to me who desperately need this kind of help, but are unaware there are other resources besides the physician pumping meds into them, as opposed to addressing the root cause of their issues. I’m recommending nurse coaching to everyone!" - Jejara G.
  • “Jay helped me to establish those good habits”
“Before I began coaching with Jay, I was doing ok but was beginning to put on weight and not eating as well as I could. I was also not exercising as I should. Conversations with Jay helped me to refocus and have someone to hold me accountable to those good habits. It was a real pleasure working with Jay. I had some more personal, private health issues to work out and Jay helped me feel comfortable to open up and be completely honest about some sensitive subjects. I most appreciated his gentle honesty and sense of humor! Since working with Jay, I've begun eating better, exercising regularly and feel more comfortable opening up to others about sensitive subjects. I'm feeling better in general, thanks to better diet and exercise and Jay helped me to establish those good habits. I would recommend Jay's coaching to anyone. His warmth and generosity make a potentially clinical relationship much more relaxed and pleasant.” - Jim G.
  • “I came away feeling stronger”
“Before working with a nurse coach, I had been working by myself to make changes to my health, by reading and using some apps, like Noom. I do have a coach I use for the gym but I know I needed help making more positive changes in my life, career, and overall health, such as improvements in my mental health and weight loss goals. I had come as far as I could by myself and I was stuck. My interactions with my nurse coach, Jay, were some of the most positive engagements of my week. I looked forward to our appointments and I liked having weekly goals. I liked knowing I had someone to help me be accountable for my progress. Jay offered simple actions I could do with little effort but had a big impact on my progress. Setting up these little wins was a real boost to my progress. I had been stuck at the same weight on the scale for months, up and down the same 2-5 pounds. I am now below that magical number. I also have started the process of taking back my mental health thanks to encouragement from Jay, my nurse coach. After each appointment, I came away feeling stronger than I thought, smarter than I thought, and more empowered to act on some ideas I had been mulling over for far too long. These open, supportive conversations with Jay were like having a weight taken off my shoulders and opening up my eyes to accessible goals.” - Tia V.
  • “Live a healthier lifestyle”
“Both my wife and I work full time. In addition to school, our kids have normal activities like gymnastics, piano, and ballroom dancing. I was struggling with time management and making time for exercise. Working with Jay gave me little "life hack" ideas to incorporate exercise throughout the day. For example, walking around the parking lot while the kids are at practice, purchasing a small treadmill for the office, and joining an accountability group to do a 45-min activity 4 times per week or pay $50. The small and simple ideas allowed me to easily add the things I need to do each week. I had a very pleasant experience with Jay. He is very easy to talk to and a very good listener. Even though I did most of the talking, I feel like I was able to gain a friend and a mentor. Since Jay is an RN, the best part was to learn more about some of my medical conditions like gout, high blood pressure, and poor diet. Working with Jay provided me with knowledge, confidence, and courage to keep pushing forward. My main goal is to stay healthy and live a long life for my family. I think I would recommend anyone who is looking for help in their lives. Especially people who are looking to live a healthier lifestyle." - Merrick N.
  • “Jay is a true expert in his field”
“Jay is a true expert in his field. I found him to be knowledgeable and demonstrate expertise in all areas I wanted to work to improve. He listened to me and helped me build the right practice and habits for me. I truly felt his investment in my well-being.Before starting my nurse coaching sessions with Jay, for several months, I was suffering from insomnia-which led to fatigue midday. I had trouble falling asleep at night- and would sometimes instead scroll away on my phone. I also experienced inconsistency in the ability to stay asleep, waking as early as 2:30-3am. I realized this was impacting my energy level and general feeling of wellness so much so, that I hadvery recently worked to establish a night-time routine with the end goal being-better sleep which I hoped would in turn improve my daily energy levels. Leading up to this, I tried a few things on my own, even at one point downloaded the calm app. I never ended up putting into practice and felt it was not working for me.Jay helped me uncover a root cause of my sleep troubles. My career recently grew more demanding after winning a new key partnership for my company which resulted in increased responsibility. This recent career change, coupled with preparing for my two daughters to graduate high school and go away to college, had me regularly feeling very anxious. (a big part of my scrolling was college research)Jay partnered with me on a plan to build better sleep habits as well as some techniques to address anxious feelings that I was likely having due to my circumstance-especially before bed, and was laser focused on overcoming each obstacle that may impair a good night’s sleep, and also worked with me to find solutions. One technique he introduced me to is boxed breathing, as through our discussion, we both realized I was feeling anxious/wound up in the evenings. Learning this practice helped me feel relaxed, settled, and put me in the right zone to prepare for sleep.Additionally, he worked with me on the recommendations of how to use my calm app for sleep meditations-including reminding me to plug my phone in to charge. Oddly enough, one of the first sleep meditations on the calm app I chose also practiced the boxed breathing method. It turns out I was not using the app in the most effective way and with a few tweaks, love it now. I now have tools to get to sleep in a calm state. I feel like these techniques and habits Jay helped me build, normally get me to sleep in 10 minutes or less, as well as have completely broken the scrolling habit. Other habits Jay helped me address to aid in my goal of more energy though out the day and bettersleep were to stop drinking water after 7pm (so no restroom trips during the night), and to stop consuming caffeine after 2pm. I already had a very regular workout routine, so no changes were recommended there.Working with Jay to gain tools and knowledge, as well as build habits for better sleep have been a game changer. Ultimately, with these small changes and tweaks we made to my routine, I am now averaging about 45 minutes more of sleep per night (15 minutes away from my goal of 7 hours, up from the average of 6 hours), and feeling more energy throughout the day. These habits mentioned above all seem very simple to understand intellectually yet can be hard to take ownership of and implement. It really takes some thought-which I have never put much thought into sleep practices that seem like they should come automatic. Without a plan and strategy, it is very easyto not sleep well. It was great to have the opportunity to work with Jay to identify some of the causes for my lack of sleep, and working with him to find reasonable solutions. Furthermore, it is great actually feel confident to have an expert guide me through the process of building new habits and fine-tuning existing ones-leading to a better sleep practice. It was very effective working with Jay on new habits that impact my well-being. Getting a better night’s sleep and having more energy was just one of a handful of habits and routines that will improve my health and longevity that Jay and I worked together to build.I would recommend his work and partnership as a coach to anyone looking for longevity, better health, and overall-well-being, both mental and physical. I am going to continue on with the habits we established, and am going to begin bringing the boxed breathing practice we established as part of my nightly into my daily routine as well." - Maria P.
